The Jackals and the Posers

A Shakespearean sonnet in iambic pentameter

The jackals, they all scream insurrection
And with one voice, they’re shouting “take his head”
“Don’t say of us we stole an election”
“Our sacred chamber was vi-o-la-ted”
The posers virtue signal their regret
“You know there’s only one person to blame”
“In good conscience, ourselves, we cannot let”
“Him challenge any crime to clear his name”

The faithful will see past this illusion
This psychodrama, writ large on the stage
Anchored against this storm of confusion
By Him who is the truth for all the age
By Him who said if you abide in Me
You’ll know the truth and it will set you free
